Since philosophy is all about making an argument, if the tokens of "crucially" that you counted are indeed all or almost all cases of presenting a vital part of an argument, then in fact you would expect a philosophy journal to have so many hits.<br /><br />Very neat little casual research. I've noticed "crucially" being used a lot this year; I didn't notice it in earlier years of my schooling.<br /><br />(Also: hi! Student at UBC here.
